DEPLOYMENT OF STARLINK INTERNET DEVICES AT CEMASTEA

Reliable connectivity is essential for enabling learners to access digital simulations, virtual laboratories, scientific data, and interactive STEM resources that deepen understanding of core concepts in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). CEMASTEA has partnered with Grow X Education and SpaceX, two US-based organizations, to provide Starlink Internet devices in 20 Senior Schools and 10 Junior Schools across Kenya. The Centre on Monday, 2nd February 2026 successfully hosted a landmark event to hand over the Starlink Internet devices to the 20 Senior Schools and 10 Junior Schools. Underscoring the critical role of internet connectivity in advancing Competency-Based Education (CBE), particularly within the STEM pathway, the speakers emphasized that digital literacy, a core competency of CBE, is strengthened through such access, equipping learners with the technological skills necessary for future STEM careers.

The CEO, CEMASTEA, Mrs. Jacinta Akatsa, in her speech underscored the importance of school leadership in advancing Competency-Based Education and highlighted CEMASTEA’s role in strengthening STEM through teacher training, research, and innovative pedagogy. She celebrated the partnership with Grow X Education and SpaceX, noting that the donation of thirty Starlink devices will greatly enhance digital connectivity, enabling equitable access to technology-driven learning and preparing learners with critical 21st-century skills. The initiative is meant to support teachers to gain access to online teaching resources, professional development platforms, and global best practices to enhance their delivery of CBE. It will also empower learners to explore STEM subjects through interactive content, virtual experiments, and collaborative projects and Promote equity in Education hence ensured that learners, regardless of geographical location, had equal access to quality digital learning opportunities.
