Mrs. Jacinta L. Akatsa ,HSC

Chief Executive Officer

Mrs. Jacinta Akatsa holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology; and a Bachelor’s Degree in Education (Science), Catholic University of Eastern Africa. She is a Biology education expert with teaching and training experience spanning over 30 years working in renowned schools such as Precious Blood and Maryhill Girl’s National school. In these schools, she rose from classroom teacher to Chief Principal. She is an author of Biology Course books with Longhorn Publishers.

Currently Mrs. Akatsa works at the Centre for Mathematics, Science and Technology Education in Africa (CEMASTEA) as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). She provides strategic leadership in CEMASTEA as a Pan African institution whose mandate is to provide continuous professional development to teachers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics education. She is also the Executive Secretary of the Strengthening of Mathematics and Science Education in Africa (SMASE-Africa), where she spearheads the continental programs that supports policy development in the area of mathematics and science education in Africa.

Mrs. Akatsa has extensive professional qualifications and training and commands leadership in renowned institutions with her wide experience in the education sector. She is passionate about matters quality education and training with focus on teacher capacity development.

Kenya Math Olympiad
Centre for Mathematics, Science and Technology Education in Africa (CEMASTEA)  concluded a five day Mathematics bootcamp for 26 students from Kenyan secondary schools. Some of the students  will represent the country at three of the world’s most prestigious Mathematics tournaments.
